Wild Mustard (Brassica Campestris)is believed to have been brought to California by Franciscan, Father Serra. Legend has it that the Padres traveling from mission to mission scattered the wild mustard seeds along the trail to create a pathway to guide them home. Mustard seeds have been utilized in Egypt and Greece as a flavor and a medicine for over 4000 years. Wild Mustard has a spicy bite and a bright splash when used as a garnish on soups and salads.
