Salt, whether table salt or rock salt, is a crystalline mineral made up primarily of sodium chloride, a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of ionic salts.  The two main components of salt, chloride and sodium ions are essential for animal life in small quantities. Salt, in the human body is involved in regulating water content and the sodium is used for electrical signaling in the nervous system.

Historically, salt has been considered a valuable commodity Neolithic settlments were at salt springs and caravans trekked desserts trading salt for ounce-for-ounce for gold.  All cultures and economies have partaken in salt trading.  At one point, salt was used as part salary for Roman Soldiers.  Salt is produced in several forms, unrefined, refined and iodized.  It's a solid rock form that comes in white, pink or light gray with fine to coarse crystals

Salt is a globally known and used flavoring for food.  And salting has been in important method in food preservation.  We use a selection of unrefined natural sea and earth salts which have been harvested by evaporation using the sun and wind.  Choosing some of the more unusual and unique salts and adding a variety of herbs, our salts can be used in many dishes, adding original flavors to our meats, salads and vegetables.  Our salt can also be sprinkled on simply for aesthetical purposes.  We hope you enjoy!
